Who are our Governors?

The Governing Body of Dunton Green Primary School:

 Mr Paul Geradine - Chair of Governors

Paul became a Co-opted Governor in July 2018 and is a member of the Finance and Resources Committee, he became Chair of Governors in July 2020.  Paul is a Chartered Accountant and has had a lengthy career in the financial services industry specialising in governance, regulatory and compliance issues.

Paul and his wife, Laura, have lived in the Sevenoaks area for over 20 years and have three adult daughters who were all educated locally.

Paul and Laura enjoy travelling in Europe, particularly in France, and Paul is also a keen road cyclist.

 

   Ms Tracey Boanas - Headteacher

Tracey Boanas took up the Headship at Dunton Green in June 2017. This is Tracey's second headteacher post and she has experience of working in four other schools prior to Dunton Green. Tracey has been over whelmed by the community spirit at Dunton Green and is passionate about providing a first class education for every pupil.

She believes that every child has a hidden talent which needs to be discovered and nurtured. She aims to prepare pupils for secondary transition by not only ensuring that they are academically able, but that they can play a musical instrument, swim confidently and find a sport they love; she believes these attributes will provide a platform for growth and future life opportunities.

She also take the responsibility of developing her staff team very seriously and strongly encourages aspiration for both staff and pupils.

Tracey is a mother of 3 children. She enjoys learning languages and loves visiting the theatre. Tracey is also a trained chef and loves to entertain family and friends.

 

  Mrs Sarah Brown - LA Governor

Sarah Brown was appointed as a Local Authority governor in 2014. She was elected Vice-Chair in March 2016 and appointed Chair in November 2016 - July 2020. She is a member of the Standards & Curriculum and Pay & Reward Committee.

Sarah was a Senior Civil Servant in the Department of Trade and Industry for many years where her responsibilities included company law, financial services regulation and personal management.  Having taken early retirement, she has had a wide variety of roles in the public, regulatory and charity sectors including Vice Chair of a Primary Care Trust, member of the Competition Commission, and lay member of the Bar Standards Board.  She is currently trustee of two charities.

Sarah is married and has lived in Sevenoaks for over 40 years.

    Mr Mark Craig - Co-opted

Mark became a Governor in November 2017 and sits on the Finance & Resources Committee.  He is also the Governor responsible for Safeguarding, GDPR and Health & Safety.
 
He and his family have lived in Dunton for 10 years, his daughter is currently a pupil at the school and his son is also a former Dunton Green pupil now studying at Skinners School. Mark is the owner of two businesses and prides himself on developing a great place to work for his team that provide care and support services for elderly people throughout Kent. 
 

Mark is also the leader of the 7th Sevenoaks (Halstead) Scout troop, he is a keen runner and enjoys spending time in the great outdoors.

 

       Ms Jennifer D'Souza - Co-opted

Jennifer became a Governor in June 2020 and sits on the Standards & Curriculum Committee. Jen has lived in Dunton Green for three years with her husband and two young daughters. As a family, they enjoy exploring the Kent countryside and London, and spending time with family and friends.

She works at Greater London Authority (GLA) overseeing volunteering programmes for the Major of London which aim to increase social integration, improve social mobility and engage London's communities. Prior to working at City Hall, she worked in the charity sector for over 10 years managing national and international volunteering programmes and has been a volunteer in a variety of roles including as a mentor, a VSO volunteer in Nigeria and a trustee. She is currently the Co-Chair of the GLA's Carers and Parents Network.

Through work and volunteering, she is particularly interested in opportunities for young people to be involved in improving and supporting their local community, increasing their employability and soft skills through volunteering, and enabling young people to become global citizens by building knowledge of the world around them.

 

  Ms Jana Petkova - Co-opted

Jana became a Governor in June 2020 and sits on the Finance & Resources Committee.

After more than 25 years in international finance she has decided to retire from the industry to recharge and pursue other interests, During her professional career, she worked with a number of younger colleagues as a mentor dealing with their professional and personal challenges in a highly pressurised working environment.

Jana has lived in Sevenoaks for over 15 years and has two adult daughters. Being a mother herself, she has always been interested in issues related to young people and the importance of their wellbeing and education.

  Mr Stephen Reilly - Parent Governor

 Stephen became a Parent Governor in 2016 and now chairs the Standards & Curriculum committee.

He has lived in Dunton Green for 6 years and has two children who attend the school.

Stephen is an HR professional, having achieved Chartered CIPD status in 2007. He specialises in resourcing and recruitment, with a passion for early careers attraction and development (trainee, apprenticeship and graduate). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Recruitment Professional and a member of the British Psychological Society, focussing on the use of digital assessment in the workplace.

   Ms Rebecca Bindon - Co-opted Governor

Rebecca grew up in Dunton Green and now lives in the area with her husband and two young daughters, one of whom attends the school.  She is the Chair of the Finance & Resources committee,

Rebecca's background is in Politics. She has worked as a civil servant at the Ministry of Defence in London for the past seven years and before that worked in Parliament as a researcher.

In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family exploring the countryside, cooking and crafting.

 

   Ms Alexia Perversi - Vice Chair - Co-opted Governor

Alexia was elected associate member in January 2019.  She is a UK qualified Chartered Accountant with over 15 years of international experience across Europe, South America and Asia.  She became Vice Chair in July 2020 and is a member of the Pay and Reward Committee as well as the Chair of the Appeals panel (pay decisions)

She enjoys participating in public service and volunteering and was involved in a number of projects during her career break whilst raining a young family of 3.

Since re-joining the corporate world.  Alexia moved from a client facing role and now leads on global Audie Service Line initiatives including business strategy, organisation and practices.

A firm believer that a good quality education provides children with the knowledge and skills they need to achieve their potential and to participate fully in society.  Alexia looks forward to supporting Dunton Green Primary to continue to develop and evolve.

      Mrs Kerry Hopkins - Parent Governor

I am a member of the Standards & Curriculum Committee. I have lived in Dunton Green for 10 years. My son is currently a pupil at the school whilst my daughter is starting Year R in September 2021. As a family we love travelling as much as possible and enjoy going for long walks in the countryside.

I have worked in the education sector for many years. I have a degree in Psychology and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. I have worked for a company called Norwood which supports young people aged 5-18 years with a range of learning disabilities. I have also worked as a learning support assistant in a secondary school before specialising in ages 3-7 years. I have 12 years of experience as a primary school teacher working at a school in Essex and achieved Chartered London Teacher status in 2012. I am currently studying History and Archaeology at Birkbeck University.

       Miss Olivia Power - Associate Member

 Olivia has worked as a secondary school teacher for 10 years. She currently runs the Philosophy and Critical Thinking departments at Sevenoaks School. Prior to this, she taught RS and Citizenship at Parliament Hill School in London.

In September 2022, she will  be taking on the role of Head of Year 7 Admissions at Sevenoaks School. Olivia believes in the power of education in helping young people to thrive, dream and engage in the world.

Outside of work, Olivia  enjoys travel, reading and art.
