Geography

At Dunton Green we inspire our children through a meaningful Geography curriculum, that harnesses their natural curiosity about the world around them, teaching them to understand the relationship between physical and human processes, and enables our children to become responsible global citizens.

We aim to equip pupils with a rich knowledge about diverse places and people, understanding the interconnectedness of human and physical geography.

Through fieldwork children learn to understand their local geography and key physical processes, they are encouraged to present their findings in a variety of ways, developing a strong sense of self.

Exploring human geography allows children to gain an understanding and appreciation of life in different countries and cultures. Our children gain cultural capital through forming positive relationships with children around the world.

Through teaching physical Geography children learn about the Earth’s key processes, how landscapes are formed and how our world changes over time. Children discover more about sustainable development and the responsible use of natural resources. We want all our pupils to understand how the actions of humans on a personal and global level directly affect the natural world.
